You must be a resident for the folk arts grants, but the master/mentor does not have to be.
If you are not in PA please check with your own State Arts Council and apply through them.
Applicants need to show commitment to learning the music of old East Galway. Check with me before applying due to restrictions on the number of apprentices per master.

"So looking forward to broadening and deepening my knowledge, skills and repertoire to help carry on the beautiful East Galway style of flute playing. Thank you, Lesl, for being so generous with your knowledge, talent and time and for being a wonderful mentor and doing so much to make it possible for all of us to experience Mike Rafferty's special touch with the music. Thank you to the Arts Council for granting Lesl and me a Folk Arts Apprenticeship!"
